Rest is not an amenity. It is the measure.
The first certification mark for restorative stays.
What is Phosphora?
Phosphora evaluates, certifies, and licenses properties that meet a rigorous standard for restorative hospitality.
The Phosphora mark identifies stays designed to support meaningful rest and recovery.
Any stay may apply. Not every stay will qualify.
For properties not yet ready for certification, strategic guidance may also be available to support qualification.
Why It Matters
The hospitality industry has a thousand ways to measure a stay: thread count, star ratings, square footage. But none of them measure what matters most — how you actually feel when you leave.
Rest is not an amenity. It is the reason everything else in your trip works.
Phosphora exists because no standard has said so. Until now.
-
The Phosphora mark offers a trusted signal: this property has been evaluated for the conditions that support better rest.
Travelers are increasingly looking for more than aesthetics and amenities. Wellness-related travel continues to grow, and guest expectations are evolving alongside it. Travelers are placing greater value on sleep quality, recovery, air quality, movement, and experiences that support how they feel, not just where they stay.
At the same time, operators face a crowded market where beautiful design alone is no longer enough to stand apart.
For some operators, it may be a meaningful point of differentiation. For others, a way to formalize what they already value.
Sleep is an essential part of the guest experience, whether properties are intentionally thinking about it or not.
-
Travel is meant to restore us. But a trip away from home can look incredible and still leave us feeling depleted.
Small details like noise, lighting, temperature, and disrupted routines can quietly shape how rested we feel after checkout.
The Phosphora mark helps remove some of the guesswork, signaling that a property has met a higher standard for the conditions that support better rest.
Simply a more thoughtful stay.
What the Mark Signals
Sleep is shaped by more than a mattress.
The Phosphora mark signals that a property has been assessed against a range of conditions that influence how restorative a stay actually feels — some obvious, others often overlooked.
No single amenity determines qualification. Final scoring reflects the full Phosphora methodology.

Who It’s For
Phosphora is for operators who believe how guests feel matters as much as how a property looks.
From independently hosted homes to professionally managed portfolios and boutique hospitality, the standard is intended for properties where the conditions for good sleep are meaningfully supported.
A stay does not need to be wellness-branded to qualify, nor does it need to fit a particular aesthetic. Whether it’s a quiet retreat or gathering place, urban or remote, what matters is not the label, but the experience.
We are currently inviting a limited number of properties to participate in an early pilot phase.
